In recent months, Rochester LGBTQ+ Together has noticed a significant uptick in hatred directed toward both our organization and greater Rochester LGBTQIA2S+ community. From in-person protestors to online posts and comments to emails and more, we refuse to tolerate hate in any form. Homophobia, transphobia, racism, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, sexism, misogyny, ableism and all bigotry cannot go unchecked. We must consistently celebrate, support and defend all of the beautiful, intersectional diversity within our LGBTQIA2S+ community.

This is why we constantly talk about the importance of celebrating Pride year-round. This is why we continue to expand our programs and resources to support community. This is why we have safety plans and practices at our programs and events, including practicing strength in numbers. Thank you to everyone who continues to support our grassroots, volunteer-led community work through program attendance, sharing social media posts, financial donations and more.

We also restate our call to allies to continue to show up and show out in support of queer and trans folx, everyday, everywhere. Not just when it’s trendy. Not just when it’s easy. Always.

Hate cannot and will not triumph!
