Early in the formation of our organization, we started handing out free handheld Pride flags during Pride season. We were surprised to see just how well-received this simple gesture was, especially by youth and young adults, who often exhibited an emotional response to being handed “their flag” and feeling visible within and seen by their community. Each year, we’ve continued to expand the flags we offer, and we now offer them at many events year-round, not just during Pride.
